Modular Living - Redefined
An affordable solution that is quick to deploy & built to feel like home.
Homelessness continues to be a growing issue in which housing affordability has been the main driver of increases in homelessness in communities. In the Los Angeles County, over 59,000 people experience homelessness and approximately 20,000 of these are in need of permanent, long-term housing solutions. Thousands of homeless people seek refuge in homeless shelters, on the streets and in other public spaces every night. The city of Los Angeles has addressed this issue by passing Proposition HHH in November 2016, allocating $1.2 billion to improve the process and funding structure for developing permanent housing.
However, with the extreme costs of construction, delays and lengthiness of projects to reach full development, relatively only 10,000 supportive housing units will be produced over the span of 10 years.
Our Purpose
With homelessness on the rise, Modulate LA was founded to forge new pathways to solve the affordable housing shortage. Our ultimate goal is to provide affordable, clean, and safe housing for the homeless and those in danger of becoming homeless.
Our Concept
We believe that repurposed shipping containers are an eco-friendly, sustainable alternative to traditional construction methods. Our team is passionate and committed to bridging the gap in housing solutions and transforming repurposed shipping containers into affordable, efficient and modern living spaces for all. Simplicity is key. We strive to not only create low-cost modular housing units, but to generate community awareness around affordable housing initiatives as a solution to effectively end homelessness. This unique measures saves time, money and resources, all while creating a comfortable, homey environment for countless homeless
Indoor Set Up
When developing an indoor facility, we can create a community feels like an actual neighborhood. From street signs, to green astro-turf floors to street lights, we aim to simulate an outdoor environemnt that feels like home.
Outdoor Set Up
Our modular homes are structurally self sustaining and mobile. We can develop a community in almost any terrain or open space. Wheter it be a park, a parking lot or a vacant land, we can design a campus that will not only look good on the inside, but it will also look great as a part of the community.
Interior Design
Shipping containers don’t have to feel like living in a metal box. Our rooms are designed with all the ammenities a regular room would have such as recessed lighting, dry way, vinyl foors etc. Also, to make the space feel bigger, we utilize muti-functional furniture that can transform open when needed and can be tucked away to save space.
